I got check by a gamewarden a week ago last saturday. Nice guy

I think he must of had a lot of time on his hands due to the distance he walked down the river to check me!

Used to think they were all a holes because of the one that used to be in Smith county

I know some of the ones now in Smith county and met 2 last weekend at the fish hatchery in Athens, they are all good guys that just have a job to do.

I had a run in with one of the Smith county ones once that was in plain clothes during teal season. I thought he was professional, he had walked several miles along the shoreline in hip waders. I don't know how the hunters at the boat ramp thought he was because when I dropped him off he told me he would let me get gone before he announced who he was

we have known several game wardens from my dad being a hunters safety instructor and just out and about and they are good people... but if I remember correctly this yr at the texas shootout at the Chaparrosa Ranch i believe a GW came out and harrassed some northerners for not having an archery stamp when they didnt need one at this time of the year. Cant say positive it was a GW it couldve been Sheriffs but I am almost 100% positive guy said it was the GW.

Have gotten checked a handful of times but only had one jerk. I was set up for about an hour at the grasslands and the GW came to the blind right at prime time to check me. Kinda sucked but I got out of the blind, gave him all of my permits and such. He verified everything was legal. I asked him next time if there was a way to avoid being checked at primetime. Big mistake with this guy. He made me sit down on a log and he proceeded to "give me a lesson" on why he can do what he wants to protect the wildlife. I agree he can, but let him know I would also like some courtesy when I am out hunting. He said he would check me everytime if he wanted. I packed my stuff and have not hunting there again. He must have been having a bad day. All of the others that I have run in to have been very nice. They just checked me and moved on to check the next guy.

They have a job to do and they worked hard to get to where they are and don't make much money either. I appreciate em and have had couple run-ins but they were reasonable and professional the way they should have been.

Most of those folks just want everyone to have a fair shake. Treat them like you want to be treated and things tend to go good.

Long ago in deep south texas, My whole family was out shootin whitewing. We were all legal but got a kick out of a group of game wardens that showed up. A older game warden checked my dads pump 20gauge for a plug. A rookie game warden took the initaitive from the older one and proceeded to ask my brother for his gun so he could check it for a plug as well. My brother smiled and said sure and handed it to the young warden. He got a little embarrased when the older warden had to point out to him that it was an over and under and that it wouldn't have a plug in it.

My whole family had to choke back tears and laughter until they left. Funny story till this day with my family.

Game Wardens are appreciated, however there are a few that are unprofessional. I was checked by one in Newton county several years back that was a toot! Been checked before and since, never had an issue.

Welcome their visits each year. Nice to know they're around, especially since our local road hunters were very active this year. Speaking of...still waiting on my $1,000 reward for using the Hotline!

The worst run ins I have with the GW is during the holidays...BIL! (What's up, Jake?)
