    Texas Summer Camps for girls?

The wife and I are looking for a week long summer camp for our 8 year old. There's a bunch of 'em in the hill country and east texas. Does anyone have a certain one that they are familiar with (one that your own kid has attended) that you can recommend? Thanks.

Are you looking for one affiliated (or not) with any particular church or organization?

My kids go to Hill Country Camp in Kerrville every summer. I went to the same camp thirty years ago. It is an Assembly of God owned camp.

MO Ranch near Kerrville is a good one too. Its run by the Presbyterians.

Pine Cove in East Texas has been pretty good in the past. Sky Ranch is hard to beat, incredible facility, and I've personally known a few kids who turned their lives around there.

Camp Champions on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls is great. My son went last year for a week as a 7 year old. He loved it and would have stayed another week. It's not cheap but he had a blast and will be going back again this summer. It's for boys and girls.
Overnight Summer Camp in Texas Building Strong Boys and Girls. Offering 1-5 week sessions and over 45 activities to choose from, serving ages 5-17.

I went to Camp Longhorn for 6 years when I was younger. The terms are longer than a week but it was one of the best experiences of my life. Its a great place.

One of ours went to a camp that the Fellowship of the Woodlands church put on that was in Huntsville. let me know if your interested and I can get the info from my wife.

Being close to home is good also, in case you have to go pick them up and take them to the emergency room for a cut to the head from playing around.

My son went to Camp Longhorn (ranch camp) for several years and then was a counselor there while in college. Nice/fun camp.

I went to Camp Stewart whenever I was younger. I think the shortest term is two weeks though, but not really sure. I seem to remember always going there for about a month or so.

I've been a camper and counselor at MO Ranch as well too. It is very church oriented and have some great facilities. I don't think you would go wrong with either choice.

Bobby when she gets a little older you might consider one of the Texas Brigades camps. I know the people that run the Bass Brigade camp and they do a great job. Very good learning experience if she is interested in such things.

                              My girls have gone to:
                              Camp Allen - Navasota
                              Deer Creek Camp - Medina
                              Camp Frontier - Grapeland

All three had strong Christian values and the girls had a good time at each camp.
