Rooke Ranch Refugio, leased for hunting?

I was looking thru the new Texas trophy hunter mag and noticed the Rooke Ranch for sale, 5800 acres with 5 miles of Aransas river, is anybody here hunting the Rooke and leaving due to this?? How much does the hunting on that ranch go for? Does anybody know?? There is also an article about a Woodsboro buck taken down 77 somewhere. Has anybody seen any trophies taken this season in any contests from San Pat, Bee, Refugio Countys??

Tuthdoc and His Brothers used to guide / hunt The Rooke back in the 1970's. They killed some whoppers off that place. It looked like an awesome place to hunt...

Sleeper area in a beautiful setting. I think they did package hunts only, but they may have leased some of it. Turkeys out the wazzoo. Low fenced bucks that would rival anybodies. Hunts weren't real expensive at the time I was familiar with them but that's been eight or ten years ......... maybe twelve ago.

I don't think it's been leased in several years. It ought to be a great place to hunt now.

I did hear that this guy they call Whatasize bought it....he is also buying up all the land down in that area....the name O'connor/Welder won't even be mentioned/associated with land in that area in 50 years....it will all be Whatasize property.....

Can't imagine anyone trying to buy that much land in modern times, can't blame em though. I would buy up land too if I had lots of money

RTP, GT is full of it. The ranch is still for sale last I heard. A couple 170s were killed in the area over the last couple years.

Yeah, that's why I was asking for the pics. I hunt one of the Rooke ranches and have for a long time. I know the area well and know no one killed deer like that in that number. I did hear the ranch did change hands this past year though. It has been on and off the market for years. It is a great ranch with very little hunting taking place over the past several years.
