Mac would be #1 then Sony #2. I have 2 Sony's. One of my Sony's goes into the field everyday now for 6 years. My company buys Dell's and there is not a Dell that can handle the abuse that Sony does.

I have just the plan MacBook with upgraded 4g ram and it is worth every penny. I went the cheep rout with PC untill i spent more than what it would cost me on a MacBook Pro in the last 4 1/2 years. Most people with Mac's have them for over 4 years with no issues.Comment

If you like your old laptop, just replace the screen. About $100 like listed above. I'm sure you have a tech buddy that swap it for you.Comment

Up until recently I would have said HP, but I am now on my third motherboard (under an extended warranty) due to an issue that HP is aware of (lots of problems with these units (DV6000, do a search) yet refuses to make right. If not for my extended warranty (through Office Max) I would be up the creek at this point.
I would recommend Dell, which is what we use at work.

I really dont like my old one to much, its about 5 1/2 years old and it is SLOW. I am needing to upgrade also because I use it to take notes on in class so I need something will go faster and more reliable.Comment
