    Which Lap Top?

I dropped my dang lap top tonight and it put a big line across the corner of the screen and I am looking at getting a new one. I have a Dell Inspiron 600 now it was a hand me down from my sister. I dont know much about computers so I am looking for a little help. I am looking for the best bang for my buck. I am looking for another Dell, I use it for school mostly, I dont do any gameing or any thing. I do have a collection of music and some movies. I want something with some battery life to it so I can use it in class. Just thought I would see if anyone has any good info on the new computers.

Dell, unless you have a lot of money to drop on that Mac Pro.

Well that ain't a pro either. And for half that (as a poor man I count my pennies) I can get a dell with more for half the price w/EPP.

I just had a co-worker of mine replace the screen on my son's Toshiba widescreen. He went on-line and found one for under $80.00 and after installing, rounded up to $100.00 for me. I don't know the value of your laptop, but screens can be had relatively inexpensively. That's one option for you.

I like my HP. Check out the prices at Sam's Club. The had the best prices that I could find.

Dell is the way to go other than a Mac. Although my laptop is an HP, and I have not had any issues, before I retired I had over 20 people that reported to me assigned laptops. Over ten years, the company would assign HP's, Compaq, and Dells. These laptops were used very extensively all day long in and out of the office. We had the least issues with the Dell laptops. So my opinion is based on years of experience with several of them.
BTW, the Acer is not bad for the price. I had one for a couple of years before I damaged the unit accidentally. It worked great and was not very expensive.

Another vote for Dell. Unless you have the time, $ and knowledge to mess with MAC.

Ok, since Mike doesn't want me pimping Mac's, I'll recommend Toshiba

I've used one for work for years -- I usually get them at Costco and they stand up to my constant use in my truck, getting thrown around, etc.

This is the one I have right now -- http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...S&Sp=C&topnav=

I'd put in another vote for the MacBook Pro....or the MacBook. Since that isn't what you want go with a Dell.

If your not a hardcore gammer and don't need a ton of extra software, I picked up a Toshiba at Best Buy for 300 bucks that I am VERY happy with. I have had several Dells over the years and I am no longer impressed with thier product or customer service.
