If you like to be a little more out of town but yet still be able to commute to the city give Montgomery a look, still has a small town feel... Several subdivisions with small acreage and the schools are exemplary..... I have a couple realtors that I have used that I would suggest if you are interested...

I would have to say somewhere in the hill country.

Marble Falls comes to mind almost immediately.

You might want to keep north texas in mind. Melissa and Anna are easy commutes to the Dallas Plano Richardson areas. Lots of IT stuff going there it would seem. Closeish to some public hunting lands. Real close to the "H" even though there are no deer there. That place on the Fork that Heath linked is pretty sweet though. 150-200k is a great price range and will leave a lot of open oppurtunities for you.

With your professions you could pick an area near any of the major cities in Texas. San Antonio and Austin would put you closer to the Hill Country while Houston and Corpus would put you closer to the Gulf. Then there's Dallas/Ft Worth, but you'd be close to Smart and that could be hazardous!

Not to bad . I have done some of the downtown things , there seems to be lots of events going on. I have never done ACL or SXSW but know people that go and say it is fun. Granted it is no Dallas or Houston but it has a small town feel. There are lots of lakes around , Lake Granger is 40 minutes away for hog hunting . I usually travel to E Texas to hunt on public land which is about 3 hours. Austin/Round Rock were just rated one of the best places to live in US.
