BirdDog, My last post came out all wrong. I was being facetious. Although I hunt Provate land for free everything else comes at a cost. Including building the cabin we sleep in. The drive is 6 hours away. It's a small paradise for me I just wish it was more land.

I don't even want to think about the total price I spend on hunting. Put that on top of my fishing expenses.... Crap, better stop there.

            Start up costs are many!

This is my first year on a lease, so I am going through this right now. I have the money to invest, so I have pretty much bought everything new. Had I been on a tighter budget, I am sure I could have gotten by with less.

            $5,500 4 wheeler
            $1,000 trailer for 4 wheeler
            $1,500 cabin
            $500 generator
            $600 two feeders
            $600 two ground blinds
$500 3 trail cams and all the accessories (batteries, memory cards, etc.)
$159 tripod (that is still sitting next to my cabin)
$300 misc. camping gear (zodi shower, water jugs, etc.)

I don't even want to add it up, but its over 10k. Each time I think I am done buying essential items, I find something else I "need".

I look at all this as part of an investmet in future enjoyment.

It is too much. Hunt public land or get on a really inexpensive lease and use the money on out of stte trips after something different. I did not have a lease this year since I moved and after this season will never look at hunting the same again.
