fixing to take the plunge ...... suppressor style

i'm starting to do my homework / research on suppresors

my local LE gunshop carries AWC Systems Technology "cans"

for those in the know, would you buy an AWC or other brand suppressor ?

i looked at T-Bergs November post where he was displaying his new "black addiction" toys ... I'm jealous sir !

Mike D, TuffBH , Hollis, Maddox , Travis, and others, ...... anyone have advice or suggestions ??

I'm leaning towards the "ThunderTrap" model ...... I know, it's only money

I mainly shoot 20 caliber varmint rifles

this is what my rig will look like

Suefire makes great cans, and by their prices they know it. They sent us a few out here, and they are much better than the Yankee Hill's I shoot. With all cans in the weapon class you'll be shooting is the inability to suppress the downrange crack, sure it is great to be able to shoot without hearing protection (which I still use anyway) that is unless you find a subsonic round/caliber you've really just got a high dollar set of ear muff. Still love em and shoot them, but just being honest

I agree with the previous poster...unless you are planning to go subsonic you will be very disappointed with the results of a can on a high velocity varmint round. The ballistic crack is almost as loud as the muzzle blast.

Blake I am still doing my research but I have my selections narrowed down to AAC or Jet. The light weight of the Jet suppressors appeals to me. They are made from titanium. Plus they are made in Texas. I'm not sure about the durability of them yet.

I have three suppressors sitting at a Class 3 Dealer right now waiting on the paperwork to clear. I went with AAC for those (Ti-Rant 9mm, M4-2000 5.56, and Element .22). AAC makes great cans and honestly, they have decent prices. I ordered mine from Polite Society, Inc in Georgia and they charge 10% less than MSRP, but so does Major Malfunction in Oklahoma. Both can ship the cans to your Class III Dealer.

I ordered a Larue Tactical OBR 308 and was trying to decide what can to get for it. I think Im going to go with a Surefire FA762SS, only b/c Larue is making a break/adaptor for the OBR and that suppressor and Surefire does make good products.

All of my cans are AAC. I have shot others and I like the adaptors they have better. I have a 30 cal SCAR-H SD, a M4-1000, and a Pilot. Once you start getting them it is hard to stop.

                              Blake,

AWC makes some good stuff. My dealer recommends their products alongside the AAC line. I should've bought their 22 can, it will withstand .22mag. AAC's do not. Which is what I bought.

Me personally, I like cans that are Quick Detach. I'm a big fan of all things AAC, they have great QD models. Currently I have an AAC M4-1000 and am awaiting a clean bill of health on an AAC Aviator .22 can (should be back in the next couple weeks), and just sent off for my SBR Spike's 9mm and EVO 9mm can. I'm planning one more can right now. Next up is the AAC 762 SD for all of my 30 cal and down cans. The great thing about the 762 SD can uses the same flash hider mount as the M4-1000, so you can put a QD mount on any standard round South of 308 (except wild cat rounds and other higher pressure rounds).

I plan on doing at least 5 total cans in all. I really want a 338 can to withstand up to 300win mag.

Cans are awesome. Once you're in you're hooked.

                              Maddox,

How long till the OBR's ship?
