BTW, for most cuts, if it tastes fishy, it's bad (as in spoiled)! Few exceptions, i.e. mackerel (never liked the stuff) and salmon roe (tastes like licking a dead fish) - was talked up as one of the most 'sophisticated' pieces. . . .won't fall for that again. . .that truely was bait.

I once was drunk on a deep sea trip and we decided it would be a good idea to slice up somebodies yellowfin and eat it raw does that count.

Sailor there are several good sushi restaurants in Ft Worth. I just had lunch at Piranha Killer Sushi downtown yesterday(great rolls!) When in a sushi place I've learned it's a good idea to order what they usually call the "Chef's Choice" He will whip up something from whatever is the freshest and best they have that day.

I have a 7 year old that would live on Sushi/Sashimi if I could afford it, lol.

He is addicted to the stuff and my 9 year old is not too far behind just far less adventurous in the choices.

The little one will tell the waiter, "Suprise me". He is also a master with the chopsticks.

It's starting to grow on me... just a little bit. I tried an asparagus roll about a week ago and it was pretty darn good. I also tried the tuna thing, not a big fan of that.

Pile the wasabi on it and man card will be intact.

heck, might as well throw in some tempura ice cream since we're talking Japanese food

Thanks, now I want sushi. My favorite sushi place closed a few months ago. It was a sushi buffet and they would make what ever kind of sushi you wanted, it doesnt get much better than that. It was in Georgetown. Dang it, I really want sushi now.

BTW I would be careful eating sushi from Walmart. I bought steaks from there a few months ago and got it home only to find it was bad, plus I don't think the quality of their meat, fruits and veggies is as good as HEB If we have a lot of shopping we'll go to Walmart and HEB

I have noticed the Wasabi topic come up several times. I like it spicy as well but I had a chef point out the Siricha (sp?) Sauce to me as an alternative.

It is the reddish/orange Vietnamese/Chinese hot sauce with the Rooster on the bottle. It is a big plastic jug and usually has a green nozzle if I remember right. If you take that and mix with your soy sauce it is spot on. I think you get a better blend and it is not the "instant hot, take your breath away, clear your sinuses" kind of reaction. It has a heat that builds up with each bite so to speak. With Wasabi, there is all kind of variables and some is hot and some is not, you just never know.

Try the sauce, I think you might like it.
