Makes no difference spring, winter, summer or fall they dont want it under 20% for some reason.

For the life of me I cant figure out why

I have the tank leased thru the company that brings me gas. It was much cheaper at the time I built my house than ponying up the cash to buy a new tank.

This sounds like another BS sale line!!! I have my tank filled after I get 20% or less. Most of the time it's around 10%, couple of times at 5. Not once have I ever heard that from the guy who fills mine. Only when it ran out completely, did he tell me he had to do something like that.

Didn't happen, because I own the tank and know how to bleed air out of lines! Don't ever tell them it's that low! Just order the propane and leave payment under lid! Just a way to make them extra dollars!
If your bleeding air from your lines you have some serious problems . There should never be air in your lines or liquid . It should online have propane gas in the lines and liquid and propane vapor in the tank

It doesn't make sense to make two runs out there selling 60% of the tank volume every time when you can make one run for a 90% fill.

Labor and transportation are the biggest part of the cost of any of these products.
unless they have a delivery charge

When I had propane at my old house I ran out one time in the winter. I called the propane co. That night and the next day. After no return phone call or refill I got out the phone book. The company that I called (on the weekend) came right over filled my tank, and replaced the gauge that was bad (why I ran out) for free. That company had awesome service and had my business and loyalty from then on. I am sure there are plenty of companies that would like to have your business. In those days times were a bit tougher and I couldn't fill my tank all the way up and they never complained about what the level was when they got there.

I have always had mine filled when ever I call them and it's always lower than 20% when I call. Doesen't make since to me.

Just talked to the gas company and they said its just to make sure you dont run out before they get you scheduled and delivered to. Something about me living out in the middle of nowhere they said. By the way they talked I feel fortunate to have sunlight here.

I was told not to let it run out or the would have to "leak test" it.

You are kinda caught since it is a leased tank, their excuse sounds like total BS if the guy showed up and did not fill your tank when it was 10% full
Do they charge a delivery fee?
If not I would be calling them out every other week to have them come out and "top it off" just to jack with the aholes

So......they make two trips out there?

I guess the first rip was to pump in some sunlight so they could see to fill the tank the next time.

somebody help me make sense out of this.......

When you have a leased tank the company that owns the tank is responsible for any testing and/or repairs to the tank and regulators and sometimes even the piping from the tank to the house.

They normally do this work without you ever knowing about it.

That is all a part of the lease payments.

If any propane company or provider tells you anything different I would strongly suggest that you look for someone else to service your needs.

Also keep in mind that there are a boatload of rules that are set in place by the Railroad Commision of Texas that propane providers have to follow. Different propane companies interprete these rules in various ways and set their policies accordingly.

Go to www.rrc.state.tx.us for enough information to make your head explode.

I cut the propane tank valve off in the springtime and then back on in the fall! Then I have to light heaters in the house a couple of times until they stay on!
