Grainger sells a plastic cover $6.00, just add three holes and wire to the legs. No Mo water. seal all bolt heads.

We had a bad storm at our lease this past spring/early summer. My 7yo boy and I went down to fill feeders on July 3rd and discovered that severe straight-line winds or a small tornado had toppled several large trees in my valley, as well as sucked the 8" deep lid off my feeder. I can't properly describe the smell of the roughly 100#'s of soured corn and maggot soup that was in my feeder that 100* day with no wind, not to mention the flies. It was absolutely retch inducing. We dumped it, scraped it out, let it dry for a while and filled it back up with new, dry corn. I hope not to experience that ever again.
