Told myself If I dont get it with a bow this year then I get nothing!

I started bow hunting about 2 years ago thanks to my roomate at the time jreyna920, tried a few times each year but didnt really get serious with it until this year. I told myself that if I didnt get one with my bow I wasn't going to get one at all, and as right now thats where I sit. I have hunted more this year then ever before, I have only missed three weekends since the opener in October ( my family has just over 100 acres in Victoria and I got on a lease in Grapeland as well) I have seen plenty but nothing I felt comfortable shooting has given me a "good" shot yet, being that I have never killed anything with a bow my confidence level with taking harder shots is not yet where I would like it. But I have to say, even if I walk away from this season with nothing in the cooler (which my dad loves to point out) it has been by far my best season ever and I have never had more fun. It feels good to say, kill or no kill I am officially addicted! Oh yeah and the green screen rules!

I know exactly how you feel. I bowhunted for 7 years before I harvested my first animal and I know that there aren't many people who would continue after a couple of years. I was hooked with the first in close encounter and I totally live to bowhunt today!!!!!!

I told myself the very same thing last year and I went the rest of the year without any deer meat! I take 'em how I can get 'em now!!

What part of Grapeland do you hunt? I live in Grapeland. Do you have family here?

Enjoy the bowhunting and take it to the level that you want to. I passed up a nice
130ish during bow season and thought I would have some better oppurtunities during the rut. I am sad to say that hasnt happened for me yet (hopefully this weekend will change that) but I still enjoyed the encounter that I had with that animal up close. He was a mature 4-5 year old deer and yes I have some regret about not harvesting him. I have it on video and that is just about as satisfying as if I did harvest him. (kind of)

Welcome to the addiction sir!!! I have been that way for about 7 years now. It is all about the majestic flight of the arrow!!! I have passed on about 20 deer this year as I truly hunt horns and give away about 80% of the meat. This weekend i plan to hunt hard at the Stonewall lease for a good buck (last chance in TExas) and then head to Kansas for late season with my bow to hopefully catch a big boy slipping up.

Stick with it! My first two years i harvested nothing and went to the rifle after bow season, now I only pick up my rifle if someone makes me. It just isn't as sprorting anymore. When you take your first deer with a bow it will all be worth it!

I know the feeling. I told myself the same thing this year and fortunately I was able to get a real nice spike a couple of weeks ago. I'm hunting an awesome 12 now and don't have much longer to do it. This was my first year to bowhunt and I don't see me putting it down any time soon. The only time I picked up my rifle was to make sure it was still sighted in!!

its a great feeling. and the feeling of putting that arrow exactly where you wanted it is unmatched by any feeling i have ever had while hunting with a gun

The real fun is in the hunting.

Once you pull that trigger or release you are in meat recovery/processing mode assuming you did your job.

Take your time and wait for the right shot. It's better to have it work and hook you for good than take a marginal shot and ruin you on a bad hit. It will work out. Good luck.

I'm with you on the addiction. I decided to bow hunt the entire season. I was lucky to kill a management 9 in October but have had a tough go since the October rains came.

I'll hunt Saturday and Sunday morning, kill or not it will be with bow in hand.

I've hunted hard and could have taken a doe once or twice with a rifle. I also had two chances at HOT this year and didn't close the deal.

That's bow hunting, gotta love it.
