I have hunted more this year then ever before, I have only missed three weekends since the opener in October ( my family has just over 100 acres in Victoria and I got on a lease in Grapeland as well) I have seen plenty but nothing I felt comfortable shooting has given me a "good" shot yet, being that I have never killed anything with a bow my confidence level with taking harder shots is not yet where I would like it. But I have to say, even if I walk away from this season with nothing in the cooler (which my dad loves to point out) it has been by far my best season ever and I have never had more fun. It feels good to say, kill or no kill I am officially addicted! Oh yeah and the green screen rules!
Don't give up, but put a doe down already!!!

I started bowhunting when I was 16 or 17 years old, and now pushing 50 in the next couple of months. Back then, compounds were just starting to come around, and I was hunting with a 60-lbs recurve, which was a bear of a bow at the time for me. Laid off for a couple of years, but got back into it around '92.

Just take your time and enjoy nature and time being out there. It will come to you when you least expect it. I've passed on several small bucks this year and some does, but so far, I've been able to harvest 3 deer and numerous small game with the Mathews, and there is no better feeling knowing that you have pretty much went 1 on 1 with the wary WT Deer and you won.

      Good luck!!!!

Way to hang in there. When it comes...and it will...the reward will be well worth the wait.

Don't pass legal does. They eat better and you need to practice killing. A lot of things can go wrong and usually will at that crucial moment. tThe best way to learn is by harvesting does.

Thats what I have been looking for but so far only fawns have come presented me with a shot I felt comfortable with.

Way to stay true to what you are striving for! I got the same grief from my buddies when I only bowhunted. The tables have now turned and most of them strictly bowhunt. When, not if, you shoot one it will be even more rewarding because of your conviction. Good job and good luck.

Stick with it, took 6 years for my first bow kill. The reward will be great.

That is a nice area down Rock Hill road. A coworker of mine who lives down Oak Grove road, the road that "Y's" off of 1272 at the football field, traps hogs out 1272. He trapped a bumper crop this year but they slowed down a little around October.
