Man our rut is just now in full swing! I don't need to be thinking about fishing just yet! None the less, that is exactly what I was thinking about on the way into work this morning... only a month left of deer season, then it's pigs for about 3 weeks, then FISH!!!! When you start bowfishing, there ain't no offseason! And besides, there's WAY more shooting involved in bowfishing and with light poundage bows. I personally use recurves with AMS retreivers... Now y'all really got me thinkin'... won't be long now! Only this year, I plan to be more careful hauling Chew around so he don't fall off my deck again!

I will throw the same offer out this year as I have done in the past...... If anyone is willing to take me out, I will cover the gas for the boat and genny.

Have my own bows just not a boat........... YET!

and actually the retreiver is cheaper at BPS than Acadmy , thats a first , for me anyway
        Here is the specs...

        Kit includes:
Retriever Pro reel with 130 lb. line
        AMS Wave Rest
2 AMSBowfishing arrows with Shure Shot Penetrator Arrow Points
        AMD Safety Slide System installed
"On the Water with AMSBowfishing" DVD

Is there something on here that is a waste of money?

You won't be disapointed here Chris...... BUT, first thing I would do is get rid of the 130# line and replace it with 400# fast flight.

As for the Pro being heavier........... I don't see it. All that is different is that the Pro comes with a built in arrow holder. And trust me, it is worth the extra $20 bucks.

I use an old throw down recurve that I purchases at a Pawn shop. I have the alum shaft with a Zebco 888 that I used for catfishing back in the 90's that I added fast flight string. It has done me right, and I am not so worried about scratching it up.

Benefits of recurve vs compound is less moving parts, and when stalking from the bank the branches and briars getting caught up in your strings. And recurve is much lighter.
