If your string is fraying after only 600 shots, you have got a big problem somewhere. If they are fuzzy, then a good waxing should help them. Either way there are a lot of good string choices available ranging from really affordable, to totally ridiculous. Good Luck in your search.

If your bowstring is getting frayed after 600 shots then you are probably rubbing the string at some point. (Maybe while you are storing it.)
I have been making bowstrings for about 20 years and here is my advice.
Both 452X and 8125 are great string materials. They both have their pro's and con's.
452X- will stretch about 1/8" 8125- will stretch about 1/4" (this is during the strings lifespan).
452X - frays less 8125 will fray a little more than 452X
--------------------------------------------------------------------
8125 has a longer life by about 1,500 shots, longer lifespan means less changing of bowstrings. less changing of sight settings.
8125 is a little faster (a couple of feet per second more).
Winners choice will also make 452X bowstrings if asked to do so. WC makes them out of 8125 for a reason.
I make my personal bowstring out of 8125, they will last me approximately 18-22 months, that is shooting everyday about 100-150 shots p/day. My peep sight will stay put and not rotate.
Either material you pick will work out great. Just make sure you are not rubbing your bowstring against anything. Wax the string when it STARTS to look a little dry. As long as you don't rub the string against anything you it should last you a good while. Just my .02¢
