You guys talking about 1" are thinking about scoring, not the law.
Hardened antler protruding through the skin gets a buck tag. If it doesn't have a branch then that qualifies as an unbranched antler.

Broke off at the pedicle. Is that a point?
I asked myself the same question recently when a broke forkhorn was in front of me.
If BOTH were broke off at the pedicle, it's anterless.

Definition of a point: A point is a projection that extends at least one inch from the edge of a main beam or another tine. The tip of the main beam is also a point.

An antler - DOES NOT need to protrude 1". Consider a button buck, just has to break the skin. It has unbranched antlers.
A point must be 1-inch, comes off a beam or another point and is measured per pics in annual.
If there is any pedicle left, "protudung through the skin", THAT can be the "UNBRANCHED" side.

To be an un-branched antler it MUST be at least 1" long.denowt
If there is at least 1" left then it would be considered an unbranched antler.cheez

If I'm not mistaken, in the description of unbranched antler in the handbook mentions that to be forked, the point is not considered unless it is 1 inch.
Maybe I am mis-reading the book.Nova
