Looking to add a little more punch to my pistola! Haven't shot a 40 or 45 in a long time. Which one would be better for home defense, CHL carrying, hogs and plinking? I love my XD9....any other brand you would go with other than Springfield or G?

Just bought a kimber pro tle and love it so far. That's the 4" barrel with a rail and night sights. The smith m&p's are nice pistols as well. Bought my wife the 9mm compact and it is a good shooting little pistol. I say go for the 45. The 40 is a great caliber but is a compromise round. Also you'd be surprised how easy it is to conceal a single stack 1911 even under a t-shirt.

No, I carry a 32 everyday and before I bought my 1911 I would carry the 9 on occasion. Not sure where you got the chick gun thing. Those are just the most recent pistol purchases I've made. The 9 I carry occasionally is a glock 19. More important than caliber in a pistol in my opinion atleast is the ammo selection for that caliber. All 40 loads are essentially +p ammo because of the increased case pressure that it was designed for. With 45 and 9 you can get +p as well and the penetration differences between the 3 is almost identical. The 40 and 45 tend to hold together better than the 9 though.
