What kind of bug is this?

It just stung my wife. It looks like a sting, not a bite. She said it hurts pretty bad and left a good knot!

It appears to be a Rhagonycha fulva otherwise known as a Red Soldier Beetle. Common in the Northeast but not exclusive. Bite should be similar to a really ****** off Fire Ant.

Probably an abstinence ant. Gotta watch out for those.

Looks like a cone nose bug, also called a kissing bug.

I think that one is supposed to make women extremely fertile.

Apparently she fell into a nest of those shortly after we got married.

That's what I thought at first, but the pictures on the net didn't look to similar.
