Why the funny feelings about Mathews?

I've noticed a few people on this forum saying negative things about Mathews and I can't understand why. They say Mathews are the bows for 'fanboys' and 'newbies', etc. etc.. I don't understand that. I bought my first Mathews bow back in 1996 because it was a great deal for a fully decked out used bow. I sold it in 2001 and between then and when I got my new bow I learned something about Mathews. They supply bows to the Archery in Schools program. So when I was ready for a new bow I picked a Mathews because 1) I liked the one I used to have and 2) it's a great thing for them to support the A.I.S. program. Am I a 'fanboy'? Why do some folks dog Mathews?

People dog eeeevery brand, not just mathews

its just a bias. they arent baaaaad bows lol. alot of bow companies are good. i know bowtech is a christian based company and gives discount to military folk.

x2. I don't own a Mathews, nor do I want one. I love my Martin, but you'll never hear me badmouth a Mathews because they are good bows.

I've never had any issues with any of my Mathews. They are the best all around quality bow IMO. I guess no one can comment on them being slow anymore either.

X2. I still shoot a Darton that I bought in 1997 and guess what....the deer I kill with it are just as dead as the ones shot with a Mathews, or Bowtech, or whatever the new fad is. It's not always about speed, or fancy bows, it's about what you're comfortable with that gets the job done.

Go on over to ArcheryTalk.com if you want to see bashing in full force--for any brand of bow, for any type of shaft material, rest, sight, relaease, broadhead, quiver, camo, stand, scent, trail cam, etc, etc, etc. It is just a symptom of the internet and the anonymity one gets from sitting in front of the screen behind the keyboard. Most folks won't say those types of things to someone's face, 'cause they know they'd get punched in the nose!!

As someone above said--it's a Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge (and maybe now Nissan and Toyota) thing.

Everybody has their favorite and that by default makes the others subpar with some. it's all a "measuring" contest.

me i just like jacking with the hoyt and bowtech boys occassionally.....

I think it is because they are easy to get a rise out of. Make a mathews comment on a thread and here they come. It can be funny sometimes. I made a comment one time about the Monster being a heavy bow, didn't mean anything bad about it just an observation, and I had a guy start posting up all the weights of other bows and such. Kinda funny.

12 ring - you wouldn't be a guy that would make a quick decision would you???

When I got my Reezen, I wished I had my old bow back for nearly a week. Then I got used to the "new feel" and wouldn't trade it for anything now.

all in good fun my friend. One of my friends bought a Hoyt just to have something to argue about at the property. Everyone else has a Mathews.
BTW, do you know the best way to make a Hoyt quite? Earplugs!

Yeah, that was me. And, it was largely how you said what you said as opposed to what you said. I just showed you with actual numbers that you were talking out of your hat.

It gets pretty tiring to listening to many of those who do not have a Mathews talk about all the reasons why someone else shouldn't have a Mathews either. I like all of the Mathews I've owned. I also liked the ProLines, Parkers, the Jennings, and the Brownings I've owned.

People are all the time making comments about how their bow just smoked a Monster, and I ask them if they want to race - they usually don't respond. Go figure.

But, I would love to have several different brands as well. I just can't afford to have all of the bows I'd like to have.

I think it's because Mathews spends more in advertising and talking up there bows then the rest combined. If you watch all of the hunting shows, IMO at least half are sponsered by Mathews.

I owned a mathews before moving to Bowtech. I wanted the quietest bow on the market and that's not Mathews. That being said, I had some problems over the years and Mathews stood behind there product above and beyond. That made it very hard to switch!
