The radiofrequency is a nerve block, but they gave me a "margarita" and local anesthesia. The first time was no big deal. The second time was two weeks later, so I knew the routine. When they wheeled me into the operating room and put my gurney next to the OR table, I asked them if they wanted me to roll onto the table on my stomach. They said yes, so I did. The surgeon asked the anesthesiologist if he had given me anything yet and he said he did. The surgeon said "well, he sure jumped on the operating table too easily." I laughed about it, but they gave me another cocktail. Then they stick the needle in my back to identify the nerve, I asked the anesthesiologist if he was giving me water or what cause I was feeling it. So he gave me a third cocktail. By the time it hit me, the procedure was over. When they wheeled me out of the OR it all hit me. My heart was racing 100 mph. Scared the hell out of me. I went 35 years without ever having surgery and had 5 within two months last summer. I've tried meds and couldn't function. I've tried chiropractors and accupuncture. None of it worked. I did find something that does give me immediate relief, but I hesitate to tell people about it because I feel like I'm trying to convince someone I saw a UFO.

You should be fine with the facet injections. I'll say a prayer that it works, because it only has a 50% success rate. 50% is not bad when you are running out of options. Keep us posted on your recovery!

Just got back home from the doctor, still a little loopy, i could use a nap. I don't seem to be hurting as bad as I usually do. I only took 10 mgs of vicodin this morning so I was hurting before I went in but I'm feeling better now. Mom took me by whataburger on the way home but I don't remember eating I think I'll know tomorrow morning if it worked or not. Thanks for the prayers!

Sorry, feeling a bit rambunctious today. Wife is in trouble when she gets home! Good luck with the injections.

things are not better like I thought. I have more pain and a fever. my doctor doesnt seem concerned about it but if I'm not feeling better by tomorrow morning I'll have to go to the doctor or the ER. I don't think steroid injections should cause a fever

I think you might need to look into a second opinion

Sure is. I haven't been pain free naturally since the late 70's. I start by thanking God I ain't dead and try to remember there are a lot of people who are suffering way more than I ever have.
