I still can't believe everyone brags on Hard 8 like they do. Its barely a step above Colters in my opinion. Must be the free beer.

City Market is tops on my list..... Hard 8 in Brady is a close second.

            Cooper's is overrated.

Coopers did offer a francise at one time but after some bad reviews he has since bought them back with the exception of the one in Mason which is not very good. He has tried several times to by back the Mason location but has been unable to.

I enjoy Coopers in Llano and admit I have NOT tried any of there other locations.

We ate at Hard 8 in Stephenville Sunday while visiting my son at Tarelton. If you have not had the "cook to order" rib eye you are missing out. Just about the best steak I have had at a resteraunt. Q there is good but with all pit style bbq it has the potential to dry out if it has been sitting on the pit to long.

Love the concept of both places, and will try Coopers at the Stockyards

By com chain I meant multiple locations across the state. I cook que about 3 days a week and also have done some comps. I enjoy their stuff, esp. their light sauce they put on when they cut, but also think of that as 'cheating,' just a bit. I've actually copied their sauce by pulling the fat and juices from my que during the cook and making a sauce similar to theirs. The deeper I've gotten into barbecue the more I can appreciate their brisket, but most of their other stuff has become more bland than tasty to me.

i've had coopers in Llano, Junction and Mason. The only one that is worth going to is the one in Llano. The other two are not very good at all IMO.

I have eaten at the one in llano. Its good food but way over priced. I can eat a nice plate of bbq at the smokehouse in linsay texas that is just as good for 8 bucks. I was shocked when my tab was 16.00 at coopers. Plus its such a gimmick that the line is very long most of the time

Cooper's in Llano is good. Junction, not so much.

529 Bar-B-Q in Houston has the best pulled pork and ribs I've eaten in a while.

Cooper's in Llano USED to be really good....years ago. But, like lots of places, it sacrifices the good taste and value it used to have for VOLUME. Shame......
