    IPhone Insurance question..

I know this has been asked before but I couldn't find the thread...

Where do all you Iphone users have your phones insured and what does it cost?

I am kicking around getting an Iphone when my upgrade hits next month but I am HARD on phones so I need to insure it!

I am not sure about the insurance. but if you get a Iphone get the OtterBox for it. I have had mine for about 4 months now and i have dropped it about 6 times and stepped on it twice. No cracks or anything....great cover and probably the cheapest ins at $49.

Was just looking at those.... which one is it that you have? I saw two for that price but one you have to have an ear bud to use the phone because it is totally sealed inside the case

I bought an extended 2 yr plan with mine. Not free replacement but greatly reduced from the $600 tag. Get the Otter Box for iPhone. Best insurance you can get. I have the one that doesn't require the ear bud.

The iPhone is a strong phone but doesn't like water. I've dropped mine on many occassions with just a regular hard shell case and haven't had any problems. I think I passed on the warranty because the cost didn't justify it at the time. Maybe the plans are cheaper now?

The only think now that I don't like about the iPhone is the "No Tethering".

You can tether if your not running the 3.1 update. and you jailbreak it.

I have the otter box that is useable without the earbud. SKU#1942-20.5/ is the part number at Otterbox.

I second the otterbox, they also make a "insurance plan" through the phone place that covers the tech part of the phone but not damage. think it was 70 bucks.

Thats the one I am looking at.

I can't bring myself to use an ear bud.

Yeap, tethering is when you use the phone as a modem.

I purchased a little ACER Aspire, laptop for just the lease to look at photo's and would like to use the iPhone as a way to connect to the Internet with it. The Acer has the ability to use it's own SIM card and connect via 3G but AT&T wants 60 bucks a month. I'll keep using the iPhone to read the green screen.

You can either get the Apple Care plan. This will reduce the cost from $600 to $199 for a refurb phone if you damage it. Covers it for 2 years for $69.

Or I know that Howard on here said Germania will write a personal articles policy on it, only replaces theft though. Then there are a couple of 3rd party providers out there.

I saw an iPhone with an Otter box on it and wondered what the point was. Makes an otherwise slim, lightweight phone into a shoe box size phone that weighs a ton. Surely there has to be a better alternative. Seriously, it was bigger and heavier than my Treo with an XL battery on it.

It's called the otterbox defender. It's 49.00 at the AT&T store, but 29.00 on eBay. Great case.

I don't find the Otter box to be bulky at all. I like that I more to hang on to. The defender is the latest I believe. If you don't want the one that provides access to the ear bud port, you don't want the one for the 3Gs.
