I'm with you on that. The friggen things have been crazy around here the last two summers. Killed one in the bathroom last night. Had one drop on my arm from the ceiling while I was sitting in me recliner. The week before I had one crawl up on my foot while I was watching TV.

Bout to bust out the zombie killer on their @#@$. Have to send the fam to the in-laws first.

Ditto what jpbruni said. I got stung on the hand and as long as I held ice on it, there was no pain at all. Once I removed the ice though, my whole arm throbbed all the way to my armpit. It took about 8 hours and it was all better. I'd much rather find a snake under my bed, then a scorpion in my driveway!

I've been using that home remedy since...

Got stung on the thumb once a couple of years ago. Had a raw spot where it bit me for about 2 months. I hate those dam things.

We get 40-50 in the house a year. We've learned to take the bed skirts off all the beds after my wife got stung in the middle of the night. They like to crawl on everything. We see them in the house after large amounts of rain and dry spells.

That looks identical to the one I found in my groundblind before daylight last saturday.

I learned in my invertabrates class Black back on scorpions just a bug three lines on the back running from head to tail then look out for anavalactic shock.

Are they still out in colder weather?

Ouch! I feel for your wife. I got stung in the back while sleeping, not fun.
We live in a rock house and used to have the same problem. We had Orkin put some "magic dust" in our crawl space and have not had more than 3 or 4 a year since.

I don't see scoripons around the house very often. My chickens take care of most of the creepy crawly bugs and spiders. The other day I was loading up some old feed bags and a tarp I had sitting next to the drive way. My 4 yr old was already in the truck, buckled in when I moved the tarp and there were 2 scorpions under it. I screamed and started dancing around trying to stomp them dead when my 4yr old comes flying out of the truck. He didnt know why I was screaming and dancing around but he was ready to whoop somethings butt.

We had them when we first moved in our house. I had only seen one in my life before we moved in, then we would see one or two a week for a few months. I guess we finally killed them off. We didn't want to spray any pesticides because I had a two year old at the time. Also found (through web research) that the stings could be more serious on toddlers. I think these were bark scorpians. They will glow in the dark under a black light.
