Ditto what jpbruni said. I got stung on the hand and as long as I held ice on it, there was no pain at all. Once I removed the ice though, my whole arm throbbed all the way to my armpit. It took about 8 hours and it was all better. I'd much rather find a snake under my bed, then a scorpion in my driveway!

I've been using that home remedy since...

We live in a rock house and used to have the same problem. We had Orkin put some "magic dust" in our crawl space and have not had more than 3 or 4 a year since.

I don't see scoripons around the house very often. My chickens take care of most of the creepy crawly bugs and spiders. The other day I was loading up some old feed bags and a tarp I had sitting next to the drive way. My 4 yr old was already in the truck, buckled in when I moved the tarp and there were 2 scorpions under it. I screamed and started dancing around trying to stomp them dead when my 4yr old comes flying out of the truck. He didnt know why I was screaming and dancing around but he was ready to whoop somethings butt.

We had them when we first moved in our house. I had only seen one in my life before we moved in, then we would see one or two a week for a few months. I guess we finally killed them off. We didn't want to spray any pesticides because I had a two year old at the time. Also found (through web research) that the stings could be more serious on toddlers. I think these were bark scorpians. They will glow in the dark under a black light.
