They need lawyers for age discrimination. Better yet if they both hire the same lawyer. I would take their money, sign the non-compete and go get a job down the street and let them come after me while I am suing them for age discrimination. In these economic times juries will be real reluctant to drop the hammer on a man trying to earn a living vs. a company that fired two of its oldest employees. Shame on the employer.
