Keep in mind, these guys are that good, they should get picked up fast by the compitition, the lesser guys may hurt a lot longer....sometime we need to look at things at a diff angle

I have a friend and now layed off coworker that had 27 years in when the cut happened back in june. I feel a little pucker action happening every time I see a white shirt now knowing my 24 year doen't mean squat to them

They can go to work for a like company but they can not try to go out and get customers from their previous employer.

Personally $5200 is not enough money for me to sign anything.
A noncompete is absolutely enforceable in Texas as long as it's supported by consideration (the $5200) and is reasonable in geographic scope and in time. Taking the money would bind him so long as the other terms were reasonable.

One of my best friends almost got fired on the spot 2 days ago after he posted a similar comment about his employer on facebook. Can't be too careful.

That is not something that bothers me, I'm blessed with more than one job and have the abilitys and the network to do what is needed, would not suprise me if they did not own the servers that TBH is on, LOL!!

I find myself in the same boat as they say performance is more important than time on the job. I say that is a bunch of baloney. The real problem is the money, even if they are middle of the road in pay they will retire sooner and will cost the company money. They want me to cut one of our highest paid workers over a 3 week old new hire just cause of the money. I am fighting it tooth and nail till the end, why? Because we all have families, they have families and people really need to get a heart. Tuffbroadhead I feel your pain brother

Nah!! There has to be ETREMELY SPECIFIC training involved. I doubt painting would qualify. NASA might!

That is the way a lot of the big companies are going these days. We went through a merger last year and I was laid off at the end of March at 55 years old. They gave my work load to a 30 something that was handling safety for the merged company. Last month they decided they couldn't handle it and hired a guy to take over the job I was doing. He is 30 years old, nature of the beast.
Out with the old and in with the new.

Same thing happened to me. I took the severance and attracted the same job with a different company 3 weeks later. I'm laughing last as not only my positional responsibilities increased, but so did my paycheck. Hey the littel guy wins too.

Our painters average 80-100k a year. They are not your average run of the mill painters.. Each one is highly trained in a array of applications and techniques that is very specific to what is needed to keep our customer base pleased.

Our dent tech's, 75,000 dollars is invested intraining before they are allowed to touch a customers car. And on average make 150k a year..

No knock on painters but still not specific enough. Trust me, I've fought this battle!
