All I know is the companies aren't recruiting landmen like they were last year. Not suprising since I'm about to graduate with a landman degree.

I wish it would pick back up. Currently I am working on several relatively shallow oil prospects in the Bend Arch, Eastern shelf areas. Need to find somebody that likes to drill those kind of wells and is looking for a deal or two.

it's about to pick back up again.... it's not going to get to where it was last year, but we will see a sharp rig count increase within the next 3 months....

I am not sure about the production side of the business as I am on the pipeline side (Natural Gas). I do know we have a couple big projects that are running to the Barnett Shale. We never really slowed down though.

They would be the only 2 people I have heard say that and barring something major happening, I would bet money they are wrong.

Gas being over $7 will help the oil industry, esp domestically employed people, more than oil being over $100

oil is fine where it is... this is the first time ever that nat gas and oil haven't tracked together... mainly due to high nat gas inventories...

so hopefully, we'll have a cold winter, and these F'ing democrats will get voted out of congress next year, and abandon all this pie in the sky windmill BS plans...along with Obama's push for "clean coal".... "clean coal".... that's like saying I just took a "clean dump"

you better hope not. If it does, it will be because of the falling dollar, not because of supply & demand.

We got word that it is supposed to pick up starting around the first quarter of 2010. Was told that it was supposed to be as busy as 2007, don't know if it's true or not. But, we have started to pick up a little bit.
