Help with double bull camo patterns

I just can't tell anything from the pictures. Any opinions on the Green VS All Purpose for Ozona area with a lot of cedar trees? Also how's the brown look?

Hey I hunt in Crockett county too! I have both the Green Predator and All Purpose Predator Matrix's and my belief after hunting two years out of the Green one is that's its better suited for Ozona/cedar tree hunting. Last year I put up another Matrix which was the all purpose. Never took a shot out of it and it faded so bad that the greens turned blue and the tan turned white. Fading is not covered by DB either. My understanding is that the green and brown Predator colors have been discontinued and all you can get now is the all purpose. That is unless some dealers still have leftovers from 2005 in the green. They are great blinds to use hunting in that area of Texas. I have taken four deer out of the green one including my two biggest bucks ever. I hope you can still find a green one!

The dude I'm trying to order from says they're out of stock on the All Purpose until mid-April, but has the green and brown. I was trying to decide if it's worth the wait for the All Purpose. I went ahead and emailed him and told him to send me the green one. Thanks for the help.

Yep, got the green one on the way but they didn't have it in the recurve model so I had to get the short one.

I think that the all purpose camo is the best hands down and I have a brown and a green one. Durability and fade seems like it may be an issue with the fabric with the AP but man does it blend in.

You can order your Double Bulls through Michael here on the site I believe. You might want to try him.

Mike...I like the all purpose too. But I think the green blends in way better in West Texas where all we have are cedar and mesquite trees. That's just my opinion though. If we had live oaks around the all purpose would probably work better. BTW I finally got DB to exchange my faded one but they are only giving me a factory 2nd to replace it with.

You might want to check with Double Bull on the patterns availability. I know back in January they still had a few of the Green and the Brown patterns available, but that they were moving entirely to the All-Purpose pattern. I'm surprised to find they still had some of the green patterns available and that they were marketing them...it works the best on the Blackjack Peninsula hands down.

For blending into cedar country, or along the Gulf Coast, I don't think you can beat the green pattern, but the brown is really effective in areas dominated by mesquite or various South Texas brush when the leaves start dropping in late November. All three are very effective patterns when you brush them in regardless!

Ditto on ordering your Double Bull stuff through Michael as well.

Is Michael his screen name? I'll send him a PM, though it's too late it might be good for future reference. There's a dealer on AT that sells the Matrix for $350 and that's who I ordered it from.

                    Texas,

I hunt in west Texas as well. We have lots of cedars on our place. To my eyes, the AP seems to do very well on our area. Not saying the green doesn't but the AP does, especially if the terrain is even a little open.

The AT dealer you are talking about is probably Rick (Thehairlessone!) He's a member here as well but doesn't advertise so as not to step on Michael's toes as a fellow dealer and he's not a site sponsor either. He's a great guy. I'm going to buy a T2 from him at some point because we did a little horse tradin' a few weeks ago on a sight that I had for sale.

As deer see in greys and not color, the color pattern is more for you than the deer...

So Double Bull won't cover severely faded blinds? That's a bummer. They also don't return e-mails. Another bummer.

I had my new Matrix out for no more than two months before it faded. It's nothing but a lump of muted greenish gray now. The pattern that was like this...

I had my BS5 in the pattern for over two years, and it never faded. Looked as good as new the day I sold it to upgrade to the Matrix. I am not happy at all with it at this point. I e-mailed someone using the link on the Double Bull website, but I heard nothing back. If they don't cover severe camo fading, then it's pointless for me to pursue it.

I know deer see black/white. I know it will probably still work as-is, but it freaks me out every time I go to set it up or look at it. In my opinion, the contrast in shapes and color it had when it was new are completely gone when the colors faded. Now it's just a mix of medium and dark shades. Not really effective for breaking up the shape.

I know it's not my place to vent on this thread, but I'm hoping that maybe Double Bull has some feelers out there and someone might see this.

If they switched fabric or printing inks, great for those buying new versions.
Before this happened, I was sure Double Bull was the best out there. Now...ehhh, not so much.

EDIT: And yes, my second image is correct. The shoot through netting hasn't faded at all on the blind. Strange.

                            Larry,
i can understand your point of view in a way but only to a certain extent.

You have to remember that double bull never marketed their blinds as permanent blinds in any way. They have always stressed that. They are designed to be temporary blinds only so obviously if you use the blind against their recommendations they cant be held responsible for fading, etc.

You can use them like that if you want to but that is a choice that you have to make.

For example, let's say you leave your new bow out in your truck all day in hot weather and your limbs crack. Is that mathews or bowtechs fault or responsibility? Heck no. You shouldnt have left it out there all day to begin with.

It really isnt necessary to leave the blinds out for extended periods of time for them to be effective although I am sure most people do it simply for convience.

Feel free to leave them out as long as you wish as long as you understand that double bull isnt going to be responsible. There are some precautions you can take to help prevent the fading such as a UV protector or brushing the blinds in,etc.
