Back at the camphouse, everybody was enthusiastic about
Callie's morning accomplishment. Callie spent a
little time shooting from my ICE Blind to get accustomed
to shooting through the windows. I also had an extra
triangle camp stool that would be a better, quieter option
to allow Callie to shift to her knees to
shoot.
After studying the video tapes, Terry identified one of
the bucks we had seen this morning as a management buck,
and instructed Callie to cull the buck. If given the
opportunity, the mature buck will be a nice trophy for
Callie!
We headed back out shortly after 5:00, with Callie's
dad once again observing from the tower blind. The
deer seemed a lot more nervous this evening than they had
this morning, as they all circled around downwind of the
feeder and blind. Even when they came into the
feeder, they were extremely skittish. All except the
big nine point! He came rumbling in from our right
and never hesitated until he stopped to munch on corn at
the exact spot where Callie had arrowed the doe this
morning.
Several groups of deer came in to feed throughout the
evening, and we watched several nice bucks, as well as
some does. Unfortunately, the buck we were after
never showed up this evening, but we still have one more
hunt tomorrow morning to attempt to score!
For now, here are a few pictures of the first class
camphouse., The camphouse is a 2500 sq. ft. modern lodge
with a kitchen, fireplace, five bedrooms, three bathrooms,
living room, two sitting areas, central heat and air and
Direct TV to watch OU beat Texas!
I'm still negotiating with Terry to let me stalk this
beast! If tomorrow Terry Owen is the new owner of
TexasBowhunter.com, you'll know I was successful!
