Welcome to one of two TexasBowhunter.com Youth Live
Hunts that will run simultaneously through the
weekend! Early in the offseason, Brush Country
Camouflage's Robert Rutledge approached me with an
interest in promoting youth bowhunting, and asked if he,
along with his partners at Brush Country, could donate a
hunt to one lucky youth hunter to be given away on
TexasBowhunter.com. Of course, we were more than
happy to take part, and plans were laid out. Originally
the hunt was to take place at a small ranch near Brady
where a couple of the Brush Country partners hunt.
However, after talking with Terry Owen, manager of Ft.
McKavett Ranch near Sonora, Terry wanted to be a part of
the excitement, and offered to host the hunt on his
well-managed ranch. In the meantime, we
began registering young hunters through both the
TexasBowhunter.com and Brush Country Camouflage
websites. We received a total of 48 entrants before
the September 23rd deadline, and on September 24th, we
randomly selected one hunter to be the lucky recipient of
this great opportunity. That lucky young hunter was
12 year old Callie Price, from Palo Pinto, Texas! In
additon, Callie will receive a full outfit of Brush
Country Camouflage clothing! I phoned Callie's dad,
Curtis, to first make sure he was aware that Callie had
registered, and secondly to see if they would be able to
accept the hunt. Mr. Price wasted no time in jumping
on the opportunity on behalf of Callie! Along with
Callie, Mr. Price had also registered Callie's two
brothers, thirteen year old Coleman, and ten year old
Colt. He has since assured me that Callie's siblings
are quite envious of their sister! Callie has
hunted with her dad for the last several years.
However, after last season, Callie told her dad that she
wanted to start bowhunting. During the offseason,
Curtis purchased a Browning Micro Adrenaline for Callie
and she began shooting regularly so that she would be able
to pull the required 40 pounds in order to deer
hunt. Now pulling 42 pounds, Callie is poised to
send her Steelforce tipped Goldtip arrow through her first
deer ever! TexasBowhunter.com and Brush Country
Camouflage are anxious to be a part of it! Log on
beginning Saturday so that you may be a part of the
excitement as well. And don't forget to
check in on our second Live Youth Hunt at Buck n' Boar
Outfitters, where 16 year old Ryan Bassham attempts to
arrow his first whitetail ever. Casey Morris will
bring the action to you in this Live Hunt double feature!
