I envy you guys that can find arrowheads. You can put one down in plain sight right between both my feet and all I will see when I look down is a rock. Great story, Tom! I agree totally that the trad thing is the way for me also. I picked up an Oneida compound a couple years ago, shot it very well, and took many animals with it. I shot it off the shelf with no sights, just like a recurve but it was not the same. Something was missing and I am glad to report that I am back with the trad gear and loving every minute of it.

Very good story. I was at a Fred Bear Fling 3-D shoot couple months ago and a guy found one. We where walking up a ravine and he stopped right behind me and said hey lookie here. I had come with in 2 inches of stepping on it. I wasnt even looking. It was pretty, not as pretty as yours but a great find. And here I was thinking you just dont find one laying around anymore.

Wow! That is all I can say. Great read just wish it were longer. Any artifact you find is a true treasure. I hunted in Doss for a couple of years and without even trying I found about 6 "pieces"...scrapers and 1/2 points. Wish I could go back there for a few days to look now.

Great read. Love to have the bow and arrow that delivered that point.

WOW what a great read! I am at the moment a wheels shooter but have have a VERY deep intrest in going all trad. However my worry has been that I would not have enough time this year to get a bow and be good enough with it to hunt with. My next fear was that I would keep both and yet always want the almost garenty that I get with the wheels. Well now I dont have my lease so I have plenty of time. With your story it has made my mind up that I will sell EVERY thing that I have with and for the wheels and go see Bob and get my bow. THANKS!

I really wish you the best! Bob will take good care of you. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you shot the compound for that "guarantee" of a kill that comes with it. Many folks have graduated from the need to "kill," to the need to "enjoy." You can actually relax, knowing that you don't have to prove anything, and chances are this relaxed state of mind can actually help you to be more stealthful in the bush. And if your hunt doesn't result in a "kill," so what? You've taken a big step sir, and I salute you!
