the pros and cons with the shrink fletches

what do yall think about the shrink fletches the ones you put in boiling water and they fly like reg. fletched arrows..is there a trick to it or is it as simple as they say..i'm useing them on alum. arrows with the 3in. vanes..

Guess you could use them on an elevated rest OK... Don't really trust the stuff though. I like my fletching to be rock solid and glued on.

ya, I don't think that I would use them unles I had an elevated rest. you would get to much vane cotact and arrow flight may be erractic. Feathers would be a better solution I am thinking.

I have 3 with fletchings and 3 with shrink ons. They fly the same. I have a fall away rest. The shrink on ones dont move at all. They are rock solid.

Those things are a waste of money if you ask me,
If you shoot an animal with it, they will rip all to crap. Peel off the shaft, small rips.. you name it.
So then you got to go refletch them all over again.

Sorry - guys but I don't know of a fall away rest made for a traditional bow!!! They may work OK for you pounders but not for us! Tomkat07 - I agree with you as to your comments on them but, I was trying to be PC.

My thoughts exactly, Ol Man. Me thinks this thread is on the wrong side. I guess some use vanes with trad gear but you would definately need an elevated rest to achieve proper arrow flight. The late Paul Schafer used an elevated rest with vanes and was a tremendous shot. I've read some incredible stories on his hunting abilities.
