A quick poll: What kind of stand/blind do you hunt out of?

I'm not real comfortable shooting my recurve out of my permanent box/blind (my favorite stand in my go-to spot). My secondary stand has two separate tripods (10' quad pod and 12' tripod). I'm a little more comfortable shooting out of those but I'm deep in the cedars and have fairly small shooting holes.

I want to gradually improve my spots to where I am equally comfortable shooting my recurve or compound and my kids can shoot their compounds of them.

That being said....can you guys that have permanent spots on leases/properties tell me what kind of hunting stand/blind you use...and what you would change/do away with/improve to make it recurve friendly.

    I'm shooting a 60" Hoyt Dorado. Thanks.

I use whatever the location calls for tripod, or popup not to many trees in West Texas for mcuh of anything else, but my favorite is the ghillie suit, it's like a blind you wear wherever you go.

At our lease down south there is very little opportunity for tree stand use. The best ground blind we have come up with is a cattle panel covered with "astroturf" carpet from home depot. The roof is made by bending three sections of pvc across to create a dome and the dome is covered with black plastic and more of the astroturf. These blinds work great and are very roomy.

              Chew,

First, glad you are feeling better and it's good to see you posting again.

I hunt from whatever the situation calls for....but I would also tell you to build some ground blinds in those locations. For the kids it lets them move more, you can hunt with more than one person, you can film from them, keep you dry(er) in the rain, etc.
You mentions cedars so it sounds like it would work.

I have mainly ladder stands at the lease. I do have a couple pop-ups out, but after I hit the top of the blind with the limb of my longbow, I think I might stick with open stands for now. I need to practice out of a pop-up more at the house to get comfy with it.

I use Gametammers,Doublebull and tripods. Most of my stand locations have two or three differant stands at each. I like the tripods and gametammers because I can see more, and the doublebull for bad weather( strong wind and/or rain ). They are tucked back in the cover with only a couple of small shooting lanes. The doublebull will cover up a lot of movement which is helpful for the kids (I put my kids in the doublebulls and they are in their 30's).

That's funny! I use game tamers and I have made several quad pods that the seat is at 7'6" high. These work really well in the areas that I hunt.

Tripods, monopods, and double bulls...but all of them are tucked back into the trees with small holes to shoot out of....don't like ladder stands as they don't seem to get back into the brush of the tree just next to the main base of the tree...
