    Youth arrow questions

I picked up my kids Little Newt from Bob a couple weeks back (outstanding bow by the way) and I need to get my kiddos some arrows. I plan on buying them full length and cutting down some for the kids and some for the wife to shoot as she is showing interest in shooting again. My question is, what size should I get? I was looking at the Easton Jazz shafts and had no idea what size diameter to start with. Is it possible to buy a dozen of one size and use some for the wife and some for the little girls? They are almost 8 years old and beginners so I don't have an accurate draw length on them. Could measure the wife's DL tonight if need be. Thanks.

We just discovered the Easton Jazz at the Austin shoot last weekend (thanks to Debra and Arvin Weaver).

We had a dozen 1516s made up for her cut to 27". They shoot very straight and flat out of her longbow (haven't tried her recurve yet).

She is drawing about 35 lbs @ 26".

I didn't know they were available since I hadn't looked for kid's arrows before. The only problem I have with them so far is they look like pygmy darts (as Terry calls them).

Ok whats with all this throw Terry under the bus thing!! Seriously though, you can get your kiddo a set of 1/4 in. youth arrows (finish yourself kit) from Lamont at the Footed Shaft 1-888-288-7581. Debra Wever shoots them as she has a 20'' dl.

The problem I have with my grandson is that an arrow built for his Newt will not stick in the targets at the 3-d shoots. If it doesn't stick in 2 or 3 in a roll he is crushed. I started having him shoot some full length 2018 shaft with 200 grain heads so they will stick

My teaching bow is a 64" 32# Quinn Stallion.
          I've been using my old comp-target 1816 X7s that are 30½"
they fly great out of the bow regardless of the draw length

          I also have some old 26" XX75 1713s & 26" 24SRT 1716s that I use with a 58" 20# Bear 76er that I have for little kids - also works great

Buff - why not put some 125grn field points in his arrows
wouldn't the extra FOC help him stick them in the target

No under-bus-throwing here Terry. I happened to agree with your astute observation.

Martha was shooting 1916s. The 1516s fly better and flatter and stick into targets better than the 1916's (w/ 100 grain points).

I probably need to remeasure her draw length though. It may be more like
25" inches now (her form has certainly changed since we ordered her first recurve) and she may only be pulling closer to 32 lb's.

No Terry. Don't throw me under the bus.

I meant her shooting style (not her form). Form = shooting style. Understand?

I have no problem with her's or anyone else's form.

My form is round Dusty, short and round. Oh and I won't throw you under the bus, yet!! I will save it for another time. I think we all got ground checked yesterday! HAHA
