    No More white tips !

Just awhile back Tom Kidwell posted a thread on making leather tip protectors for your bow. http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...ad.php?t=83935

I fully intended to do a set of these for my 1970 Bear recurve I hunt with, as it has white tips and I didnt really want to paint over them. After many questions to Tom, and another leather craftsman on the site. These showed up in the mail today! Jay77 whipped a set out for me after sending him the measurements of the tip. As always Jason put's a personal touch to his work, and they fit and look great! Thanks Jason !

Your right Tom... Leather and Traditional just seem to go together...thanks for the idea.

What an outstanding surprise to get in the mail Kind of reminds me of being a kid and getting the cereal surprise in the mail after waiting the required 8 weeks (only better).

Some people keep a shot gun behind the front door for protection but a REAL tradional archer keeps a bow!!!!!! ha ha Glad you like them! I am SOOOO glad they fit. Not having the bow to test fit with had me wondering if it would fit. When I see you next I will have to bring something to polish up the hole the string comes out of. I made it small thinking that you could would cut it out to fit but it looks like I got lucky and it was just the right size. That was just my first run and I have another idea for the next one......

Also I see another craft I have to take up when I retire in a couple of years. I'll add it to knapping my own broadheads and sinew mounting my own carved shafts.

Will that be "traditional " enough for the "whose more traditional" contest?

Yea.. I unloaded it before I took the picture. You know it's all about safety!
It holds 4 magnum rounds with the plug out!

Nice looking leather tips. Do they stay on all the time? The reason I'm asking is what happens if there is moisture trapped underneath the leather tips? Will it do harm?

I guess if you perfer to leave your bow strung all the time I guess they would stay on, but I dont leave mine strung up as do others. As for the leather I dont expect any problems, the only thing that I've seen is "over time" as the rest of the bow finish ages, you might see a coloration line maybe from not being exposed ?

I've never seen no damage to any of the older bows with leather grips that were put on 50 years ago. I still have the original leather grip on my 1950 Kodiak and it seems fine, but I'm not taking it off either to look

Now that's really great! I've never seen the Bear logo on tip protectors before. That is a really nice touch!

As for moisture damage... No. There is no moisture or mold that collects underneath. There is ample space surrounding the tips for venilation. I've put 'em on, left 'em on for years, and no damage whatsoever.

                  Glad you like 'em!!!!

                      Thanks to Jason...

I still want to dabble in some small leather projects. When a good friends hobby is leather, and generous as Jason is I ended up with a custom set.

My shootin improved too! tips protectors as cool as these you cant miss! LOL...
