Is there a certain material that is better than another. Brownell or BCY? What is the most popular? I'm wanting to start making my own strings and don't want to get the wrong material.
I use BCY - Dynaflight97 or 450.. I like the BCY products better than the Brownell but, it is a matter of preference. Have found the D97 to be the strongest so far and very easy to use.
Im a D97 guy myself, was counting on NOCKING POINT being there next week Todd but I see it's not on his schedule ths year
Had to make me new one today myself
Mornin folks, I was wanting to get some input on this.I like quite, isn't B-50 a little quiter than the fast flight stuff? I know the fast flight is faster, but is it really THAT much faster? Any suggestions on hushing a bow down. So far I like the rubber siliencers best. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.
B-50 is quiet but, I find D97 quieter. Now that being said the bow MUST be fastflight recommended. A longbow will be inherently quieter than a recurve without adding silencers. The recurve will take more to get it quiet.
I use woolie balls that I make,,, they are real wool and are a great string silencer without adding a lot of weight to the string.
I also like wool silencers; they are quiet and they don't absorb water when it rains. I also prefer B-50 because I find it quieter than anything else I've used. It is a bit slower because it stretches more, but not enough that it matters to me in hunting distance shots. Any bow will handle B-50 (dacron), but the older production bows won't handle the newer string materials, like fast flight.
It's really just a matter of preference. Try different things and see what works best for you.
I use b50 only, I have a slew of older bows and dont want to risk a mix up. when I get a newer bow that may be fast flight when the string needs to be replaced I throw it away and make one from b50 its a lot cheaper than fast flight.
I cant handle dacron on my sweptwing, it feels like it will shake my shoulders out of socket. Does the same thing to my dads longbow and about every bow i have shot. I have shot ts1 and now just started shooting d97 and cant tell a difference. I love d97!!! I have also made some 10 strand strings with padded loops and it seems to be quieter than the 20 strand i had. I will wait to test the speed between the 20 strand dacron and d97 strings. It isnt the speed gains i like as much as the crisp, shock free feel it has.
