    question about once fired broadheads

So everywhere I hunt is blessed with a generous amount of rocks.

I've noticed that every broadhead I've shot either has a bent/broke or curled tip

Switched to a 3 blade head, Snuffers or Montecs....the last few shots have gotten me a bent tip. I resharpened the blades and gotten the tips "better" but still not factory fresh.

Does this make a difference in real life? they are still pointy and not dull, but are blemished a bit

That blunt tip could cause some penetration issues.

If it was me, I'd file it back to a nice clean point.

That will 100% perform less efficiently. You can reprofile the tip into more of a tanto and it may actually improve performance. A 1x30 belt sander would make quick work of it. A file will work fine too.

I certainly wouldn't shoot it at a deer after that. Hogs, coons and armadillo - I wouldn't think twice.

Blades are sharp and I’ve filed the nick out as much as possible….barely noticeable, will hardly catch on your fingernail.

If it will kill a hog, wouldn’t it suffice to say it will kill a deer?

So far I only shoot "unshot" broad heads at deer but in their second life they are used on pigs and other varmints.

One reason I don't believe in expensive heads.

If there is a cheaper 3 blade I’ll gladly look into it. These are $34 for a 3 pack

You are shooting 100 grain heads right?

Save your good heads for deer and use cheap heads on pigs and porcupine.

Just a note on my experience with those G5 Montecs.

When I fist saw them, I thought to myself - "That's a great looking broadhead", so I bought some.

They flew great, and sharpened easily, but I broke every one of them in short order. Same goes for their small game heads.

Later I learned, that even though they are a machined head, they are machined from cast material, instead of solid stock. That ain't good.

You can see that yours is made from cast from the large pit in the damaged point.

I'll never use them again, and as Gary has already show you, there are better, and just as cheap, or cheaper.

I recall you loathe the Ranch Fairy (I don't mind him) but he makes a great point about broadhead integrity and sharpness.
