Unless we are willing to stand up and politely yet firmly say, "want to shoot with us" when a newbie shooter or compound shooter comes to your club. Thats my line when new people (compound or trad ) come to shoot at our club who are interested in joining DCA. Unfortunately, some trad guys across our great country forgot what their momma told em and left their manners and good sense at home. We should also try to cure this issue with our fellow trad shooters. There a few at our club that also make the same types of comments and I'll admit that I need to (and will ) be more proactive with addressing this issue. Obviously from this thread, those comments and the continued acquiescence of this conduct is a serious problem in our community. Now with respect to the carbon arrows and my "excellent" performance at our last shoot, I always have lengthy conversations with my arrows to build relationships with them and I only shot the one lucky arrow that showed itself to me in a perceived shimmering light. I would rather be crazy & lucky than good. Bhill

I'm going back to post #1..What is a real bow and arrow.....
Answer......The bow and arrow that allowed me to tag my deer last season!!!
My opinion.
I shoot a Flatbow as my number 1 bow.
Also shoot a longbow, recurve and believe it or not, a Mathews DXT.
Just love the bow and arrow, which ever kind. (don't like crossbows)
Nothing against those that do, just my personal opinion.

Sorry guys for starting all this fruha!!! But one other thing I would like to add is that I have had more compound shooterd come up to me and say "boy, you traditional guys sure do have FUN when ya'll shoot"! I use this opening of the door statement to let them shoot my set up and it generally blows their mind!! Generally if you can get them to try one arrow, you can see that little glimmer show up in their eye, the seed is planted!! I feel that it does take more work to maintain good form and accuracy but that is something that I truly enjoy! Thanks all for the input, your all a class act!!

I've gotten a lot of ribbibg through the years and I've done my fair share back. All in good clean fun. But there have been a few that really made me mad. The worst was on the "C" Ranch. When I pulled my long bow out the head guy looked over and said"not one of you guys, I better go warm the dogs up". Then he tried to get me to change areas because they had seen a monster buck in that area and he didn't want me to wound him. Out of 30 hunters that weekend only two bucks were killed, my big wide ten and a 156" 13 point that an old man killed with his long bow. SWEEEET

That is a Leatherwall Thing from way back. But my ribbing of compound shooters is well deserved by them.
I use to shoot 3D at the old Banana Bend Range 20 yrs ago and at the last one I shot there they had a running hog for a novelty shoot. Closest one to the spot split a $37 pot with the club. I paid my dollar and won because I hit the spot.
But there was no way that compound club would let a recurve shooter win. They kept running it over and over again trying to get one of the compound shooters as a winner. I had to wait a half hour while they kept trying to get me to leave without winning. When that didn't work they got on the phone and called in other shooters that didn't even shoot that day. Finally after that hog tired and kept running slower and slower Mike Murphy, one of the shooters they called, hit the center of the spot and won. He split a $185 pot. It took them compound shooters almost 150 shots and 1.5 hours to do what I did on the first shot.
