    String Silencer Positions

I did some silencer position testing today, and the results were interesting (at least to me).

The bow is 65# at my 29.5" draw.

The arrows are 617.2 gr right at 9.5 gpp.

With the silencers placed in the heterodyning positions (some people call it the 1/4 : 1/3 positions) the average arrow speed is 210.92 fps on a five shot string.

With the silencers placed on an even spacing (15" from the limb tips) there is no noticeable difference in sound/loudness, but the average speed of a five shot string is 213.5 fps.

I'll stay with the even spacing, and that extra speed. Thank you very much.

For some clarification, that may be confusing to some (it did elsewhere).
Even though the silencers are 15" from the limb tips, they are only 6.75" from where the string leaves contact with the limbs. Thems some "Big Hooks".

        Yes Sir. It is.

        It still shoots over 200 (average 208) with a 650gr / 10 gpp arrow.

Takes some getting used to on the draw cycle though. Feels absolutely nothing like anything I've ever shot before.

My first compound bow, Bear Whitetail 2, shot about that same speed.
