the bows that I shoot ever day stay strung by the back door

and bows that I have out to shoot are strung and ready to shoot by the fireplace
the little 20# Bear 76er is the bow I teach small children with
the Hoyt Pro Medalist is just for the fun of it - nothing like a fine target recurve !!

all the rest are un-strung and put away

I leave my recurves strung unless they are not going to be shot for a while. Sometimes that might be for the entire bow season which is over 4 months long. I have been doing that for over 40 years and never had a problem with losing weight. I like the Bob Lee post above about a bow that has been strung since the 70'S.

I unstring mine, but the target guys at the club here leave theirs strung and in the rafters at the indoor range.

If anyone is from San Antonio it is possible they have heard of Brush County Bows owned by David Oaks. He makes recurve and long bows from scratch and has told me that there is no harm in leaving modern traditional (ha) bows strung. I have a Bear Grizzly that i bought at 60# at 28" 2 years ago. The bow has not been unstrung since then and is 61# at 27 3/4" right now. I keep it hung by the string in my apartment (never too hot or humid). I didn't test the bow poundage when i bought it but I am confident in what David tells me. And i shoot about once a month in the off season, and once a week during deer season.
