A good anchor is an awesome thing.

Just got done shooting (and freezing my a** off! A/C on yesterday and heater on now!). I am starting to get to the point where I know what went wrong when I miss. This morning, every time I got to my anchor right away, bullseye. If I didn't quite make it to anchor, or I fooled around too long getting the anchor, my shot was way off. I know, some of you might be saying "of course, this is nothing new". For me though, it IS new being able to figure out what I did wrong. The tough part for me is getting all the way to anchor while staring at what I want to hit. It is weird. If I practice draw, or draw while looking away or closing my eyes, I can get sraight to my 3 point anchor, fast.

Anyway, it is awesome to be able to figure out these things. The puzzle is coming together a little bit now. Before, when I would miss, I would have no clue why. Anchor? Release? Indigestion? All of the above? Fun stuff.

You might consider using a clicker to help you reach full draw. I suffered with this affliction for years and it eventually turned into full blown targic panic! It was so bad that I almost quit shooting a bow. I couldnt even get a childs bow to full draw releasing before my anchor point. You need to break that habit immediately! I use a clicker all the time now, my target panic is gone and can shoot heavy bows very well. I do notice though while bowfishing without the clicker It will start coming back! That clicker is an amazing tool if you need it.Good Luck!

Sounds like you're on your way. It is a good felling when things start to click.

Instinctive shooting is many individual steps tied together into one continuous process. Some of the steps are more critical to the outcome of the process than others. A consistent anchor is one of the more critical.

My advice is to concentrate on one step in the process at a time, until it becomes automatic without thinking about it. Then move on to the next step in the process. The objective is to free your mind totally to concentrate and focus on where you want your arrow to hit.

Hope it helps a little and good luck with your shooting. I'm on the other side of the lake from you and it is d*** cold and windy today.

Consistency is key. Feel the shot.
