    Fletchings

How bad do you let your fletching get before you replace them? I have an arrow fletching damaged last night on two different feathers and it seems to be affecting the flight of the arrow, but I might just be doing that to myself.

I let minr get pretty ragged before I refletch them. Laziness, I guess, but it does not effect my flight. I work very hard to get the right tuned arrow for my bows.

It can effect flight. I had it happen friday. One arrow shot 2 to 3 " low every time.
Turns out one fletching was loose in the middle and you could only see it by bending it over.

With properly tuned arrows the fletching should be an add on. I shot one Ash arrow for three years with only one feather, because it shot straight, 3-D and hunting.

Mine get pretty beat up - when there is less feather than quill I replace them.

When my start to lay down or starts looking real ratty, I refletch.

New fletched arrows are hunting arrows.

After they get mushed a bit from carrying in the woods they are target arrows.

After the target arrows are a bit worn they are small game arrows as they get nasty on pass throughs any how.

If any of them start shooting weird or are torn up pretty bad they get refletched before dropping down to the next level.

There's difference between ratty and falling off. if the feather is coming off the shaft where it should be glued on that can defintely cause erratic flight.

I let them get real bad. I had rather be shooting than fletching.
