Went to the Solana Ranch just south of Waco with a bunch of friends for a 4 day hunt that started New Years Eve... Took a nice 11-pointer with two broken tines on the first evening. 20 yard shot through the lungs with my Morrison Shawnee 60# @ 29", with Gold Tip arrow and a Magnus 1 2-blade on the end, 65 yard recovery.
Also took two does on this trip with the same setup, one 12 yard spine shot that required another arrow through the lungs at 15 yards... no distance to recovery. The second was a 27 yard shot through both lungs and top of the heart with a 40 yard recovery.
I saw decent bucks on every setting except for the last morning when the wind changed to out of the north and no deer were seen.
Had a fantastic hunt with lots of friends, 17 of us total and 27 critters on the ground. 9 bucks, 11 does, and 7 hogs in all.
