First Hog of the Year

The first (and hopefully not the last or biggest) hog of the year from the Hunt N Shoot group hunt.

What went wrong?

My 7yr old nephew was sleeping in the blind and began squirming around about the time I got ready to shoot. Focusing on the shot and not waking my nephew, I ended up unknowingly moving forward in the blind. My top limb ended up hitting a 2x4 support beam, which caused me to hit the doe in the spine.

I will spare you the details from that point on. I am thankful that I didn’t hit any other deer and that she was recovered. It could have ended much worse.

I've had something similar happen while hunting a friends stand. I think it happened to Rotag as well this year.

I finally got my first and second harvest's and didn't get a pic. They were rabbits and they ate great that night. However before we could get pics I caught a big indigo and we took pics of it. Forgot all about the rabbits until we were back at camp and my father was asleep. Maybe next time.

Not much of a story. ~15 pigs came in, 1 didn't leave with the rest.



It is amazing how good a stinking pig tastes.


And to think, some people shoot them and let them lay.
