Thought I'd take a couple days to hunt before I head to Missouri. Haven't really hunted at the lease this season and with all the rain, acorns and clover it's been slow for everyone.
Had this guy come in twice yesterday evening. He never would give me a good broad side shot at the hand corn. The feeder is further than I want to shoot and he spent most of his time around it. By the time he hit the hand corn light had faded and I let him finish out and leave.
This morning he showed up about 8:25am and same deal as last evening. Finally at 8:45 he gave me the look I needed. Shot was off a couple inches but he was quartered away a bit and it was a good hit. Blood trail was very easy to follow. Just a management 8pt.
10 yard shot, 80 yard recovery.

First Longbow Buck

Got permission to hunt a property near my office this year. I left work early for a sit yesterday afternoon and this buck rolled in with a doe about 6:25pm. Shot looked good, but I only found a little blood and the place is covered in high grass and standing water. I decided to back out and come back in the morning with my dog. Deer had only gone about 60 or 70 yards. I backed out about 20 yards short of where he dropped last night. It was plenty cool last night so the meat did not spoil and no coyotes found him. This is also my best traditional buck to date. I wish the video camera would have focused on him instead of the grass.
