    Fudd '07 Scouting report

    Fellas,
We went out there this weekend trying to scare up a rabbit. Scare up is right. There were lots of rabbits.

    ...but

The wind was really playing hob and kept the rabbits down. When they'd move they'd go for a good 50 or 60 yards full out. We'll see rabbits next month, I'm convinced. Just hope the weather cooperates a bit better than it did this weekend.

...as a side note: there wasn't a beer can on the property safe from our judos and blunts.

If you have the little handheld 2 - 5 mile radios/wakie-talkies; bring 'em. They'll come in handy.

    Thanks for the update.

So do you think we should go with the cabins at the state park or the KOA camp?

I heard Buff can hit a rabbit at 50 yards at a full run, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Honestly wouldn't know. Look up "Pineywood(s) Rooter" and send him an email or PM. They stayed in the cabins at the state park. The KOA is much closer for what its worth.

My truck got muddy, but the trails weren't really all that bad.

Jumped two coveys of quail, but they flew with the wind and were gone!!! No shots. I sure wanted a quail or two. A fella did happen by who'd been quail hunting and I talked him out of the wings for my pointer to play with.

Closer sounds good and I have a pretty good idea what to expect at a KOA.

Now if they will just hurry up or slow down on the new house I will be set. Right now they are saying “end of February”, but since no closing date has been set I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to make the hunt.
