That's my 1960's Fred Bear Kodiak.

Had a great sit. It was a bachelor party. Saw a great old ten point, a HUGE young 8. A small 8 trying to sprout g-4's, a young 7 and young 6 and lastly a momma with twins who were the size of our house cat...so she got a pass.

Probably one of the best sits of the year.

This is why we are running more hand corn spots and using feeders less. We get so many more mature bucks in bow range this way.

We have 5 feeders, 4 hand corn sites and hope to add another 3 hand corn spots over the next year.

Interesting. How often do you put out the hand corn??

We have a crap load of hogs, way more here than most places. not a lot of deer tho. We have had a huge crop of acorns the last few years and normally don't run out till February or so.
I even saw acorns up until March last year.

We usually put out 50lbs once a week. We scatter it thin and over a large area so it takes them time to clean it up. Even then, it may only take 1-2 days. But they know where it is and roll through there to check it out.

I've got the opposite problem. Maybe we can partner up and trade a few hunts.

Doesn't get any traditional than this. No feeder, just a deer trail and a tripod stand.

If you're not sitting in a loin cloth I will be disappointed.

A mentor of mine (who has passed on) who made his own boys and arrows, used to wear a loin cloth and would use an old coffee can to pour stock tank water on himself and roll in the dirt before trad hunting...

In his honor. I will do that...early season when it's warm

                              1) I don't believe ozonicss is necessary as long as you have a scent free ritual- A) it's cheap and B) it doesn't take batteries. Ex- I was 8-10yrds from the deer I mentioned earlier- end of story.

                              2) other than a pocket knife and head lamp, I take cell phone in case of emergency or TBH, bow, arrows and finger tab and nothing else. I don't believe you need a pack full of crap on your home turf or a one sit at a time hunt. KISS.
