    My first woodies

I'm making a set of wooden arrows to shoot in traditional classes at 3D tournaments that require wooden arrows.
I ordered the shafts from Surewood Shafts and I'm pretty happy with them. Very nice shafts, straight and very nice grain. All of the shafts weigh 315 grains +/- 5 grains (as I received them, cut and tapered). They're 40-45# spine and I'll be shooting ~37# OTF.
I ordered the shafts with a 9" taper on the nock end with 31" BOP.
Test arrows I've tried shot very well at 40-45 spine in a full length (32" BOP) arrow.

It's been close to 30 years since I've made any wooden arrows and I'm really not that familiar with current offerings in nocks for traditional shafting.
On my new longbow I have a Fury string with a center serving that fits my current carbon arrows well. My current carbon setup uses a GT G nock with a .088" throat. I'm looking for a glue on type nock for the woodies that has a similar fit.
The tapered end of my shafts ends at 5/16" and a traditional nock taper.

    Suggestions for nock?

Try a 5/16 Marco snap nock and it should work perfectly for you. If it's too tight dip in boiling water and snap it on.

I like the bohning classic nocks. No idea what the size is. I dip mine in boiling water also to adjust to fit. You can pinch them after dipping to make them tighter if necessary

I use the classic as well but the Marco nocks are as similar to carbon nocs as I've found.

Finished my first arrow this morning. Used a classic nock and it fits pretty well with a slip fit. Arrow flies great.

I think I'm going to like them.
