    How is it possible?

That 5 yards can make such a HUGE difference? I've been shooting a lot at 20 yards. Before I practiced mostly 15 and under. At 15 I shoot really good. At 17 I shoot fairly good. When I move to 20, sometimes I shoot a decent group (6-8'') and sometimes they're barely all in the target!! I guess the further away I get little inconsistencies show up better. I'll still set up for 12-15 yard shots, but my goal is to at least feel comfortable with a shot at 20 if it came along by next season.

I tend to beleive that around the 15 yard mark is where the arrow flight reaches a point where it is dropping. Between 5 and 15 things are relatively flat. Trajectory rises, peaks, and falls off. Pst 15, things start looking smaller compared to evrything else and harder to see and focus on that spot.

I know exactly what you mean. Got frustrated and for "why not," method of thought I backed up to 25. My groups got back together. ? That has not been consistently the way it always works, but I seem to find the "spot" better at 15 and 25 then 20. Go figure that one?

Definitely a little harder for me to pick a spot the further away I get. I'm sure the more I practice it'll start to fall in place. I haven't shot at 25 much at all other than just goofing off. I may try a couple groups there and see what happens. I guess it's all those years of shooting a compound, but at 15 my arrows look fast...at 20 they look so slow lol.

At 15, your throwing a pitch. At 20 and beyond, it feels like you are shooting hoops

this is exactly why I use a medium heavy arrow with a flatter trajectory and use the 3 under method and put my point on with the tip of the arrow right at 25 yards, to make my effective range out to 25-30 yards...my groups at 25 yards are the almost the same as the 15-20 ranges.....its good to have a 30 yard range with the stickbow where I hunt because its mainly open terrain

The farther the distance the greater the little inconsistencies are magnified. Maintain good form and practice your butt off! I wasn't comfortable shooting past 15 yards at this time last year and passed a good 8 point on the last day of season at around 20 yards. When I left I told myself that I would be comfortable at 20 yrds this year. I practiced all spring and summer. I shot that spike yesterday at 20ish yrds!
Just practice practice practice and stay within your comfort range!

That is a good way to put it. Higher FOC may have something to do with it but my arrow really falls off the table just beyond 20.
