    First trad Kill

I have been wanting to kill something with my recurve for a while! It is not a fancy recurve it is an old york I paid about $30 bucks for. This season I really wanted to more than before, I had two blinds set up that I could shoot out of (well tree stands) and one of them was just not an active spot. Yesterday morning I finally changed stands and had a doe come in and I got to excited and she busted me. Then the feeder never went off so I went to go test spin the feeder then had to go back to camp and before I could get back there were 7 deer under my feeder. I knew I wanted to sit there so I could get my first trad bowkill. I talked my dad into sitting there yesterday afternoon because its been a few years since he has shot anything because he has always made sure everyone else has. Dad stuck a doe that evening. This morning I decided I am going to go sit there and my dad sat in the box blind watching me. I had a doe come in before the feeder went off and knew she would leave as soon as it went off so when the feeder went off I stood up and got ready. I had about 6-7 does come in soon after. I stood for about 20 minutes waiting for the doe I wanted to give me a shot and she was standing by herself but was facing me the whole time. All of the does started leaving one by one so I decided if I wanted one I needed to shoot then so I shot the one that was broadside to me. As soon as I shot my heart sank to my stomach thinking I hit the doe to high and was not going to find her. I walked to the blind my dad was in watching and waited about 20 minutes to go look. There was no blood under the feeder but I knew where she went into the brush, about two steps into the brush I find my arrow soaked from one end to the other in blood and some blood on the ground. About 10 more yards and there is a solid trail of blood and I find the doe and it was a solid double lung shot. This reminded me why I got into bowhunting and the challenge I enjoy. Sometimes I was getting the feeling my compound was to easy. (I have witnessed kills out to 120 yards with it but not on deer just hogs and coyotes). The barebow recurve definitely relit a fire under me and I am hooked.

Congrats on the first. I've been doing this for years and have taken many animals, hogs Javalinas and other varmints. But have yet to break my whitetail curse as I call it.

    One question though...where's the pic?

I know exactly what your saying, I can go in guns hot on a stalk with the compound, recurve not so much!
